Piano recital featuring Bernadette Harvey
Be mesmerised by Cornelia Parker’s installation War Room (2015) in this monumental fusion of sound and colour.

Come to the MCA after hours to experience a concert by internationally acclaimed pianist Bernadette Harvey inside the Cornelia Parker exhibition. This concert program responds to the artist’s thought-provoking installation, War Room (2015), and its themes of violence and transformation. A highlight of the concert will be the world premiere of the new piano sonata, Ode, by Sydney composer Peggy Polias, commissioned for Harvey’s ongoing Sonata Project.

The Sonata Project is a re-creation for modern audiences of a 19th-century salon concert, known for stunning performances and settings. Conceived and performed by international soloist and chamber musician Bernadette Harvey, the Sonata Project is an ongoing commissioning and performance program of new large-scale Australian works for solo pianists.

This special event is presented in conjunction with the Cornelia Parker exhibition. Supported by the Sonata Project, the MCA and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. With special thanks to Dr Donald Hollier, who has composed a new work for this event.
